The one page Guide to Scottish Tourist Board information

This should be provided by the Scottish Tourist Board but isn’t.

The Scottish Tourist Board, as such, does not trade any more, but Scotland's visitors still use the term when searching the web.  So  Scotland Tourist Information can be quite difficult to get it all in one easy to manage page. This is it.

Scotland’s airports, buses and trains

Scotland has five large airports and these are at

Prestwick in Ayrshire with Ryanair the principal operator. To the West of Glasgow,  To the West of Edinburgh  For the Highlands Inverness and at

Aberdeen for the North East. All of Scotland's 13 airports can be found here. Driving around Scotland  Hire cars at the airports. All Scotland’s buses  and train services

Background Information for Scottish Tourists including some ancient stuff, some history, the Scottish castles, some politics and some law, general stuff  about Scotland for Tourists

Travel Scotland and Tourist Accomodation, Scottish Regions, Hotels, Guest houses. This is one of the finest web sites in Europe. Maps of he regions, articles for tourists, local stories, accommodation in good hotels, guest houses, Bed +Bs, self catering and late availability.

Self catering for Scotland's Tourists. Over

10,000 properties available in Scotland. For late availability in top properties especially in the low season, you try this. Get good holiday home tips on the best way to find your property using the internet. The grading system used by the trading arm of the Scottish Tourist Board is fairly

reliable in a technical way but not based upon what tourists want. Don’t expect it to grade the view, or the welcome you’ll get. If you want a five star experience and prices then they are very good for this. Here are the local VisitScotland organisations. Strange that the best list of the offices is on someone else's private site.

Eating out for the Scottish tourist

This excellent clean site gives you all the local listings, very good. A Taste of Scotland

Events in Scotland

The best list is the VisitScotland site but it is very irritating to see events that finished months ago, and events for three months ahead, not listed (it is October)

Scottish Cities. Edinburgh is the capital, very famous for Princes Street, the gardens and the magnificent castle, Glasgow  is the fun city, Aberdeen for fishing fleets and oil rigs, Inverness for the North. Glencoe, a village,  is a gorgeous centre for touring the renowned Highlands
