Visit Edinburgh Scotland and Stirling -a tale of two Scottish castles
Visit Edinburgh Scotland.  Take a few days off, see Stirling,  then take a self catering cottage holiday on the West Coast.
If you only have one day to visit Edinburgh ...
Edinburgh for our family is so memorable. Our girls, when seeing it for the first time, were entranced by Edinburgh castle. We saw the Edinburgh Tattoo there. They could not imagine a 1,000 year history. The medieval houses in the Royal Mile toppled over each other as they did 400 years ago when the people threw out their rubbish on the street below. We were straight back into the old days. Then across the road to visit Princes Street along one of the most famous shopping streets in Europe, with the gardens, the Scott monument, the Scottish National Gallery and Visit Edinburgh’s Royal Academy alongside. 8 Scottish webcams

We spent one memorable Edinburgh Festival celebration on a roof overlooking Princes Street watching the huge fireworks display.

When we visit Edinburgh  we go via Stirling with its Castle - to our  shame we’ve never been around it. The Wallace monument is opposite. We all went there to see William Wallace’s huge sword as depicted in Braveheart –  the real original sword last used in 1297 at the Battle of Stirling Bridge
